Planning to build a cabin or lake home around the greater lakes area in the near future? Whether you know exactly the look you want or just have a general concept or idea, our design team is skilled at helping you create an atmosphere and look tailored specifically to you.
BlueStone is highly respected and has earned a good reputation for being a top notch custom design/build contractor. We specialize in lake homes & cabins by merging intelligent design with quality “up-north” craftsmanship having an attentive eye on project overall environmental impact.
Design/Build is the process of defining your tastes, your lifestyle, your vision and turning them into final construction plans. Most of our projects are a combination of many design styles. Every home is unique or “one-of-a-kind”. Some lakehomes combine rustic with arts and craft. Others combine mission with timberframe. Still others stay more contemporary but inject flashes of rustic warmth on ceilings, floors and cabinets.
We currently serve the Alexandria, Bad Medicine, Brainerd, Bemidji, Detroit Lakes, Grand Rapids, Pokegama, Walker, Longville, Remer, Mille Lacs Lake, Superior, Duluth, Lake of the Woods, lake areas. We’ve designed and built lakehomes in central, northern and western Minnesota.
Most of our projects are long distance builds. Meaning BlueStone has had to develop excellent planning and communication skills to keep its customers fully informed throughout the construction process. We constantly show you what is coming and provide you timely progress reports on what has taken place or what you need to do next. Problems will be identified ahead of time and communicated to you clearly so that together we can take full advantage of the best options for solutions.
We are sensitive to your wants and needs. We understand our customers often would rather get exactly what they want, exactly how they want it rather than merely getting the most space for the cheapest price. On one occasion we were asked to move an existing A-frame cabin… build a new foundation for a much larger, more sophisticated new lake home, and then merge the old with the new. Structurally this wasn’t the cheapest request nor easiest task to fulfill. It required a higher degree of architecture, construction and engineering expertise. It took a high degree of management skill to pull it off. But the results far outweighed cost for our customer.
In mid-Minnesota, we are seeing designs with open, spacious living areas and at the same time cozy places throughout. Lots of windows to bring nature close and lofts overlooking the great room are popular. Natural stones and rustic or reclaimed wood floors and walls are selections we see more and more. Add to this BlueStone’s keen eye for detail and quality craftsmanship and you are well on your way to creating many years of family memories in your BlueStone custom home at the lake.
